New Orleans' White Linen Night

Thursday, August 5, 2010

I left a little piece of my heart in New Orleans the first time I visited. The music, food and architecture are unmatched in my opinion. Plus, locals just know how to have fun! Which brings me to White Linen Night happening this Saturday, August 7th in the Warehouse Arts District also known as the "Soho of the South." The 16-year-tradition includes a five block street party with live music, over 20 art galleries opened for shopping, wine and my favorite part...attendees dressed in white linen.

Now, I have never been to the event which makes it important to know someone who has...our friends and New Orleans locals, Todd Lewis (bestman a our wedding) and his wife and costume designer, Claire Breaux. I love Claire's style and she promises to send photos of what they decide to step out in Saturday night. Here is the plan though: Todd will have on a white, short-sleeved, linen, Tommy Bahama shirt, seersucker shorts and topsiders. Claire will be in a floral print silk blouse, white linen pants and nude wedges. I can't wait for her photos!

Here are some great options for white dresses...

J. Crew - Linen-Silk Bustier Dress
$198

Athleta - Lanai Linen Dress
$29.99

Calypso - Rope Tunic
$165

LinkCalypso - Annette Tux Dress
$195

Lilly Pulitzer - Cormick Dress
$178

Elie Tahari - Sophie Dress
$352

And if one linen party isn't enough for you, the city celebrates the following Saturday with Dirty Linen Night. This is a party in the French Quarter where you wear the linen clothing from the previous week...unwashed. I love a city with a sense of humor.

Happy almost weekend - Heather
