In Honor of the Royal Wedding: Fascinators

Friday, April 29, 2011

In honor of the Royal Wedding that so captured the world today...

I thought I would take a look at fascinators.

In case you do not know what that is (as I did not until I looked it up on Wikipedia) a fascinator is a headpiece that you may wear instead of hat that is usually made out of feathers, flowers or beads. They are sometimes called "Cocktail Hats" and the gorgeous Kate Middleton has made them famous in the past several months.

Here are some photos of Kate wearing these fabulous headpieces...

Here are some examples I was able to find of linen, silk and cotton fascinators...

Antoinette Fascinator by Angela By the Sea

Silk Bloom Bridal Headband by Fine & Felurie

For more information about fascinators, I found a great article on the blog Wedding Row Charlotte that lists many companies that specialize in millinery couture. To read it click here.

What do you think of this trend? I am trying to think of what possible event I could actually wear one of these to in my forceable future. Good think I live in New Orleans now...it might just be a possibility here. Good night!

Our Vietri and Linen Easter Table

Monday, April 25, 2011

We really enjoyed being in a home again that has a dining room that fits our table. I thought I would share a few photos from our Easter celebration. I hope you had wonderful holiday too!

The table itself is actually from one of my husband's movie sets that he bought when filming wrapped. It comes from Harrison Ford's character's dining room in Hollywood Homicide. I think that is funny so I had to share. The plates I use everyday are the same ones we use for entertaining because I LOVE them so much. As you can see we stick to a pale blue and soft green palette whenever possible. See below for details and have a great day!

100 Layer Cake

Friday, April 22, 2011

100 Layer Cake is a wedding planning resource for the creative and modern bride. Or, if you just happen to love beautiful ideas for entertaining, the blog is for you as well. I have never seen such original wedding ideas that are so perfectly executed. Chic Coles mentioned it last week and I am so glad they did! I performed a quick "linen" search to see what ideas they shared and I promise, the photos do not disappoint...enjoy.

Beach Dining

Thursday, April 21, 2011

Tonight this beach tabletop caught my eye...

I found the image here while looking for a photo of an all linen picnic. I have this scene in my mind of an all white, linen beach party with oversized linen beach umbrellas, huge white linen beach blankets and towels, taupe and white striped canvas vintage beach chairs, huge hurricane lanterns and tons of white sea shells as decorations. Who knows if that image already exists, if not I would love to design the photo shoot.

Have a good night!

Ruffled Linens Shop

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

This week I am obsessed with table linens. I guess because Easter is coming this weekend? Whatever the reason, I love the Etsy shop I found tonight called Ruffled Linens. These table linens are so romantic in style. They really are quite beautiful and I could find an excuse to order several of them. Take a peek...

Lilac and Linen Wedding Table by Chelsea Fuss

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

I found this lovely Lilac and Linen wedding tablescape by Chelsea Fuss on Elizabeth Ann Designs tonight. I love how Chelsea dressed up the white tablecloth by adding a natural linen table runner and linen napkins. This is an idea everyone can use and might even help with last minute Easter table ideas. Enjoy the photos!
